Minimum Qualifications
**This position is a full-time regular position with benefits and is budgeted for 30 hours/week.**
Acceptable Experience and Education
Two (2) years College studies in Social Work, human services or a related field and two (2) years of experience in social work, human services field or a related area, with at least six (6) months of the experience working with elderly population.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
*Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred *
Certificates and Licenses Required
Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso
Typical Duties
Essential Duties
Supervises the operation of the nutrition services at assigned centers; may open and close centers; provides supervision and training of volunteers assisting with nutrition program activities; ensures drivers deliver meals to the sites timely ;
Provides customer service; may answer phones; greets clients; responds to inquiries or complaints;
Provides information and referral services to participants; interacts with senior adults to foster relationships; prepares and submits weekly rosters, client assessments and other activity reports in a timely manner;
Ensures clients receive and understand guidelines and information;
Registers clients, ensures client eligibility for nutrition program services; submits forms for verification;
Maintains listing of current participants, monitors program participants annually to insure that clients are in need of our services so they may continue receiving program services and assess their need for additional services;
Maintains daily, weekly and monthly records on Program enrollment and attendance;
Assures that all current procedures are followed and most recent forms are utilized;
Monitors the serving of meals; documents compliance with requirements for balanced menus, portion sizes, serving times, temperatures and other related requirements; ensures the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area;
Ensures compliance with nutrition program policies, procedures, nutrition food standards;
Promotes program support by encouraging and collecting monetary contributions for congregate meals; remits funds to Nutrition Accounting personnel;
Is responsible for entering Mileage Reimbursement reports;
Attends trainings/meetings as appropriate;
Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and
Creates a high quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.
Other Important Duties*
As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services.
Duties will also require visits to participants’ homes also located throughout the County.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

The Nutrition Services Coordinator works under general supervision, oversees the daily operations of senior citizen centers, including the delivery of meals to senior adults in congregate or home delivered meal programs.

Knowledge of: The principles, practices and methods of interacting with senior adults; nutrition and health standards for food service operation; the principles and practices of social service program administration; the practices and methods of physical facility administration; supervisory techniques; office management techniques; procedures and methods including computer keyboard operation; English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling; techniques for effective interpersonal communications.
Skill/Ability to: Effectively communicate both orally and/ in writing, understand and carry out oral and written instructions precisely; maintain confidentiality of information; read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; deal with compliance issues, and the ability to make prompt customer service decisions, exercise good judgment, tact and diplomacy in all public dealings; lead and motivate volunteers; establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
