Job Title: Counselor (In Home Family Counseling Specialist)
Location: Westmoreland County
Salary Range: $22.17/hour – $26.07/hour, $2,000 Sign-On Bonus
Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid, Some Evenings and Weekends as needed

About the Team
The Counselor (In Home Family Counseling Specialist) is part of our Family Support Services team. This team provides a wide array of family support services to help families and children grow stronger, from prevention and reunification services to care coordination services. All of our programs are built around the idea of permanency — supporting safe, nurturing, and lasting families — and putting the health and safety of the child first. This position independently develops and implements service plans that promote safety, well-being, and permanency for all assigned clients.

About the Position
The Counselor (In Home Family Counseling Specialist) is a hybrid community role that promotes family stability and independent functioning, while facilitating behavior change and healthy decision making. Job responsibilities include:

  • Efficiently manage assigned caseload and productivity requirements and delivers counseling services. Services may include assessments, evaluations, individual and group sessions and caregiver education in community and office settings
  • Collaborate with internal departments and County agency staff
  • Documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and daily billing required
  • Prepare caregiver and any involved community providers for discharge by providing behavioral education, individualized discharge recommendations, making indicated referrals, providing written handouts and documenting information within policy guidelines
  • Consistently attend staffing and treatment meetings on assigned families
  • Develop and implement service plans that reflect the unique needs of all assigned clients in collaboration with clients, referral sources, and judicial guidelines.
  • Assess client needs using formal and informal evaluations, referral source recommendations, and client preferences
  • Transport clients to visits, medical appointments, hearings and other appointments as needed
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with referral sources and other social service agencies
  • Attend, participate in, and when called upon, testify at all relevant meetings and hearings for assigned cases as necessary
  • Maintain files in accordance with The Children’s Institute’s policy, contractual requirements, and
  • DPW regulations
  • Assist with coverage of other FSS program responsibilities as needed
  • Ability to work non-traditional work hours including evenings and weekends to meet client needs

Qualifications

  • Masters in Counseling, Social Work or Human Service field required.
  • Experience working in Child Welfare
  • Experience with Child Development and/or Addiction Issues preferred
  • Act 33/34 Clearances
  • FBI Clearance
  • Valid, current driver’s license and personal automobile liability insurance with a minimum of $300,000 combined single limit coverage
  • Approval to verify driving history at the time of authorization and annually; approval to verify insurance coverage at the time of authorization and semi-annually
  • Reliable automobile with current inspection
  • Ability to meet physical and mental requirements of the job
