Minimum Qualifications
Acceptable Experience and Education
High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years technical training or experience in inventory control, procurement, or store keeping;

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates and Licenses Required
Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.

Typical Duties
Essential Duties
Assists with procurement or property disposal documents; gathers items to be auctioned; determines if items are salvageable; gathers data and calculates information for reports and bid tabulations; assists in bid auction process to dispose of obsolete or surplus County property; palletizes items and ensures the number of items to be auctioned are accurate and accounted for; secures items during auctions;

May assist with warehouse space planning and layout; assists with product research and preparing specifications for purchase orders or requisitions; assists in contacting vendors to collect pricing and availability details; evaluates functions and quality of materials purchased;

Takes inventories of items in stock and maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure timely deliveries to meet departmental requirements; tags, bar-codes and documents County assets; evaluates function and quality of materials purchased; operates materials handling equipment; ensures that items are properly and safely stored;

Inventories and issues frequently used supplies and materials for county departments; oversees the storage and distribution of purchased goods; receives materials and equipment; ensures correctness of quantity and quality and maintains records of stock received; inspects goods, tools and equipment to see they are in accordance with purchase specifications and invoices; disperses and delivers supplies, materials, and equipment from the stock room and keeps records of stock issued and returned;

Inspects, meters and sorts official outgoing mail; receives incoming mail and interdepartmental mail, sorts according to appropriate destination, and distributes to all County departments; sorts and weighs outgoing mail; affixes postage using postage meter;

Provides print shop services; stocks and inventories print and mail supplies; corrects and develops photo-ready originals; receives and verifies print shop stock deliveries; operates printing and digital copier equipment in the reproduction of single and multi-color printed materials, forms, letterhead and transparencies;

Performs clerical, recordkeeping, and warehouse work coordinating all commodities and equipment movement and storage; ensures adequate inventory of frequently used supplies and materials; maintains records and files; assists in audits of assets;

Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and

Creates a positive work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.

Other Important Duties*
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.

The Inventory Control Specialist works under general supervision and performs moderately complex clerical and inventory control work; assists with procurement work placing and expediting orders for diversified goods.
