Minimum Qualifications
Acceptable Experience and Education
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in inventory control or related field.

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates and Licenses Required (Depending on area of assignment):
May require Deputy Clerk deputizing; may require AOP certification;

May require or obtain by date of hire a valid driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.

Typical Duties
Essential Duties
Oversees and monitors a variety of planning projects in assigned area;

Performs work for inventory and re-ordering of all supplies as needed in support of the divisions operations;

Works closely with the department staff in support of the departments supply needs;

Performs requisitions and other administrative duties;

Work is closely reviewed for accuracy, completeness, for adherence and compliance to purchasing/ procurement rules;

Receives daily instructions and priorities set forth by management on all open jobs, due in and new parts requisitions;

Keeps records of all work orders and maintains office administrative files;

Uses inventory control systems and other technologies to requisition repair part, materials, department supplies, office supplies, safety equipment and other items in support of the Department;

Receives materials, equipment and hardware;

Ensures correctness of quantity and quality and maintains records of stock received;

Disperses and delivers supplies, materials, and equipment from the stock room;

Keeps records of stock issued and returned;

Maintains the orderliness of the stockroom; places stock in proper bins and racks;

Takes inventories of all items in stock and maintains optimum inventory levels to insure timely deliveries to meet departmental requirements;

Recommends layouts for maximum use and operation of warehouse or storage space;

Operates materials handling equipment; ensures that items are properly and safely stored;

Processes requisitions, researches products, clarifies specifications, and generates requisition (RQ) purchase orders (PO);

Contacts several vendors to inquire about cost and availability of commodities;

Evaluates function and quality of materials purchased;

Inventories and issues frequently used supplies and materials for the department;

Insures there is an adequate inventory of frequently used supplies and materials;

Maintains records and files, to include services requisitions (RQ) and purchase orders (PO);

Checks and disposes of surplus, obsolete equipment or materials upon approval of director or designee;

Substitutes, if assigned, during temporary absences by performing delegated duties sufficient to maintain continuity of normal operations; assists as needed in other sections;

Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and

Creates a high quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.

Depending on area assigned
Acts as a backup Vehicle Safety and Emission Inspector as needed;

Issues special tools required in the shop; and ensure they returned at the end of the day;

Uses fork lift or electric pallet jack for loading and unloading of materials and stock;

Fills in as needed at the front desk;

Maintains tool room to the highest state of cleanliness;

Receives and disburses materials, and commodities ordered by Road and Bridge and Fleet Management departments, and insures items are labeled;

Maintains records on vehicle registration and inspections;

Verifies the balancing of daily receipts to cash;

Verifies credit card receipts at the end of the day;

Reconciles the office inventory to the fixed asset report;

Transfers Equipment/office inventory to purchasing; tracks and verifies the proper location;

Maintains and repairs clock stamps;

Marks equipment and office inventory; labels, tags, and ensures proper accountability;

Binds reports.

Handles evidence that is delivered thru the mail;

Receives body armor, and badges;

Processes requests for Uniforms and accessories.

Other Important Duties*
Performs other job related duties, within reason and capabilities as directed.

Frequent driving throughout the county;

The Supply Services Specialist under general supervision performs moderately complex clerical and warehouse work coordinating all commodities and equipment movement and storage; performs procurement work placing and expediting orders for diversified goods; and performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: Advanced Purchase Inventory Control System (ADPICS) and other technologies to request supplies; purchasing/procurement rules and maintaining records; principles and practices of effective customer service; principles and practices training; English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling; techniques for effective interpersonal communications; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment to include Windows and Microsoft based products.
Skill/Ability to: conduct research, compile data, analyze findings, read and write in English; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; Pass a Criminal Background Investigation;
