DSHS FFA Fiscal Analyst 1

The Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration (FFA) are looking for a Fiscal Analyst to join our dedicated team in Tacoma, Washington. In this role, you will process travel expense claims and payments.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

As a Fiscal Analyst, you’ll perform professional, entry-level financial review and analysis of accounting, budgeting, auditing, or fiscal data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, governmental auditing standards, department policy and guidelines, statues, or regulations, within the Tacoma office while supporting all of the Regional Business Center administration. The work requires you to perform a variety of procurement research. Prepare purchase orders in accordance with Department of Enterprise Services (DES) and Central Purchasing Unit (CPU) policy and procedures, utilizing state purchasing contracts to procure equipment, supplies, vital statistic, requisitions, notary renewals and training registrations.

Some of what you’ll do:

Arranges travel, hotel, and car reservations for staff traveling in or out of state for training, conferences, meetings, and transporting clients assuring that all travel manual regulations are met and are within the per diem rates for the area of travel. Assist staff in the determination of resolution for proper course of action for discrepancies within the Travel & Expense Management System (TEMS). Processes and inputs non-employee travel reimbursements in TEMS and provides TEMS training and assistance to staff and non-employees. Establishes and logs volunteer travel authorization and reimbursements and is responsible for notifying administrations volunteer liaisons when volunteer reimbursement authorization ends. Responds to program staff inquiries. Auditing, analysis, and reconciliation of travel requests for all CBS Regions. Investigation of inquiries and problem resolution. Point of contact for Facilities and Institutions for travel arrangements questions. Process routine purchase requests in TRACKS system to create purchase orders. Other duties as assigned.

Who should apply?

Degree preferred but not required;

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours in accounting, auditing or budgeting and two plus years of professional accounting experience. Professional experience may substitute for education

OR

A Master’s degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant can be substituted for professional experience.

What we’re looking for:

Must have knowledge about and understand theory and practice of accounting, the principles of cost accounting, and modern office methods
Ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of accounting transactions. Assemble, analyze, and prepare reports and statements of complex financial data
Ability to multi-task and schedule self to meet payment and report on deadlines
Ability to learn specialized computer systems, TRACKS and ePMX and any new programs that may be implemented for desk position
Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Basic math skills and the use of a 10-key calculator
