Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Assistant
Location: The Children’s Institute, 1405 Shady Avenue, Squirrel Hill, PA 15217
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, Hybrid capabilities
Pay Rate: $20.90 – $24.59 per hour
About the Team
The People Resources team is comprised of our Human Resource and People Strategies team members, who work together to enhance the team member experience at The Children’s Institute from recruitment to hire, onboarding and beyond.
About the Position
The Human Resources (HR) Assistant is a new addition to our team. In the role of HR Assistant, you will report directly to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and will undertake administrative tasks to support day to day operations of their role and of the People Resources team. You will also be involved in administering wellbeing and engagement activities. In this position you will play a critical role in helping the Children’s Institute become, and remain, a Best-in-Class Employer.
This is a dynamic role, and you will continually learn new things. The team will value your input and there will be lots of opportunities to put forward your ideas to improve the team member life cycle in line with our strategic goals.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of two years previous experience with event planning or team member/student engagement is required. Previous non-profit experience preferred. Strong organizational and planning skills, detail orientation, passion for people.
- Driven and proactive, able to work independently, as well as being a great team player.
- Good prioritization skills, organized, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to take initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Forms, and PowerPoint is required (SharePoint is desired).
- Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, as required.
- Sound judgement and ability to maintain confidential information, and to deal with a variety of stakeholders in a discreet, professional manner.
- Act 33/34 Clearances, FBI Clearance
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as an HR assistant and/or in event management.
- Educational experience (certifications or post-secondary education) in Human Resources, or a related field.
- Experience with Paycor (HRIS).
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
- A valid driver’s license for use related to supporting event planning and coordination.
