The City of Sioux Falls Health Department is accepting applications for a Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Specialist. This position supports the assessment, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs, services, campaigns, and policies to promote health, prevent and control non-communicable diseases and injuries in a rapidly growing community. Duties include developing community health promotion materials; promoting programs and policy changes to stakeholders and target populations; providing research and analytical support, including supporting community health assessment and investigating emerging and evidence-based programs and policies; facilitating the delivery of community-based and clinical preventive services through project and program management; participating in and supporting quality improvement activities; and performing other duties as assigned.
The qualified applicant would be a detail-oriented person with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in a public health environment. They must have a valid driver’s license and ability to perform field duties in various locations throughout the city.
Positions at the Public Health Department are subject to the CMS Covid-19 vaccination requirements.
This is a non-civil service 40 hours per week position with access to the City of Sioux Falls’ health insurance program but no other benefits.
Minimum qualifications include:
A bachelor’s degree in public health, health promotion, health/fitness management, exercise or nutrition science, or other related field is required. A master’s in public health (MPH) and/or two years’ related experience is preferred.
