The City of Sioux Falls Health Department is accepting applications for an interim Communicable Diseases and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

The qualified applicant should be a detail-oriented person with excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects in a public health environment. Duties include coordinating the local planning, mitigation, response, and recovery from local disease outbreaks, disasters, hazardous environmental exposures, or bioterrorism events in conjunction with county, state, and federal agencies; coordinating mass vaccination efforts and accessing of federal strategic national stockpiles; managing population health programs for communicable disease prevention and control; and, working with appropriate authorities for timely identification, investigation and reporting of reportable communicable diseases.

This is a non-civil service 40 hours per week position with access to the City of Sioux Falls’ health insurance program but no other benefits.

Positions at the Public Health Department are subject to the CMS Covid-19 vaccination requirements.

Minimum qualifications include:

A bachelor’s degree in public health, health promotion, health care management or other related field is required. A master’s in public health (MPH) and/or two years’ related experience is strongly preferred.
