Job Title: Licensing Division Assessment Lead (SSS4)
Location: Region 6, WA – This position is full-time/permanent/flexible/hybrid – The location of this position is negotiable within Region 6, dependent on the candidate’s location. Travel is required for this position.

Salary: $5,783 – $7,779 Monthly
We are looking for a Licensing Division Assessment Lead (SSS4) who posses strong knowledge of LD practices and procedures, to support our Assessment team in Region 6, within the Licensing Division. The incumbent of this position will exercise independent judgment in devising their own work methods to provide an advanced level of specialized, culturally relevant and strength-based case management.

The Opportunity
This position will provide coaching, mentoring, on-the-job training, and assistance in the transition of staff from a formal training program to fieldwork. This position assigns work in coordination with the supervisor, conducts case reviews, conducts on-the-job training, establishes and maintains procedures for efficient workflow, and acts as unit supervisor in absence of the supervisor, including attendance at meetings, facilitation of meetings, case staffing, and decision making.

Some of what you will do:
Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, feedback, coaching, and consultation to the staff within the Licensing Division Assessment program.
Conduct on-the-job training and assistance with staff in formal training plans who are transitioning to fieldwork.
Provide social services professional staff with guidance and direction.
In conjunction with the supervisor, assign work, review work for efficiency, use data to identify trends, and review home study assessments and documentation for accuracy and compliance with policy.
Responsible for reporting on strengths and areas needing improvement of employees to their direct supervisor, providing feedback for annual performance evaluations, and identifying training needs.
Provide coverage of assigned caseloads in the absence of a social service specialist.
In the supervisor’s absence, attend meetings and provide supervisory coverage.
Serve as lead worker assigned the most complex cases as determined by the supervisor or Area Administrator.
Provide testimony and declarations at administrative hearings and other court proceedings related to written home studies and licensing action.
Utilize Department databases to document licensure/home study activities and maintain provider records within program and manual standards, accountability requirements and agency’s documentation practice.
Required Qualifications:
One year of experience as a Social Service Specialist 3
OR
Seven (7) years of paid social service experience* AND 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or Bachelor’s degree which includes 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline AND Three (3) years of paid social service experience* in planning, administering, developing, or delivery of public child welfare, social, health, or chemical dependency treatment programs.
OR
A Master’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or Master’s degree which includes 30 semester or 40 quarter credits in a Social Service discipline AND Two (2) years of paid social service experience* in planning, administering, developing, or delivery of public child welfare, social, health, or chemical dependency treatment programs.
Notes*:
A two-year Master’s degree in one of the above fields that included a practicum may be substituted for one year of paid social service experience.
*Paid social service experience must include at least one (1) year assessing risk and safety to children and providing direct family-centered practice services
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
Proficiency with using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel) and data input (keyboarding) skills.
Previous Program experience of agency policies, WAC and RCW related to assessing applicants to provide care to children in the care and custody of the department, including licensing kinship and community foster family homes
Previous program management experience in a regulatory or supervisory capacity for facilities providing care to children.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete investigations/assessments in the homes and residences of individuals.
Demonstrated ability to communicate through oral and written forms of communication, and comprehend, with diverse populations, management, peers, clients, community, colleagues and the public.
Demonstrated ability and skill to interview and engage clients utilizing an interpreter or those with a mental or physical impairment/disability.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize workload and assist others in managing cases.
Demonstrated ability to organize caseload priorities according to office policy, time-frames and workload expectations.
Demonstrated ability to independently assess situations and utilize good professional independent judgment.
Demonstrated skills and abilities to diffuse sometimes hostile situations and make decisions regarding personal safety.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and update records and file case documents.
