THE OPPORTUNITY
Dillard’s is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Database Administrator with a positive attitude and a drive to learn and collaborate. As a DBA, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the installation, configuration, uptime, performance, and backup & recovery of all support databases within the company. You will have the opportunity to grow professionally and be challenged daily while learning several database platforms and supporting Dillard’s eCommerce site. You’ll also get the opportunity to work alongside a great group of DBAs, as well as regularly interact and collaborate with the other IT teams on assignments, making a difference for our business.
THE TEAM
This role is on our Mainframe and Unix Database Administration team, which supports hundreds of databases for applications utilized by all areas of our retail business (Store personnel, Apparel buyers, Fulfillment staff, HR, Accounting, Executives, and much more). As a new member of our team, you will have a mentor who will help you become acclimated to Dillard’s business strategy as it relates to your role.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure required database resources are available to business users and application programming staff
- SQL Tuning
- Provide technical direction to the application programming staff
- Backup and Recovery
- Logical and Physical modeling and design
- Work with system programming staff to plan and implement maintenance, upgrades, and migrations
- Research and planning related to new technologies, application rewrites, and implementation of new applications
- Data Governance
- Automate redundant and repetitive practices
- Keep abreast of current industry best practices
- Participate in on-call rotation
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Advanced knowledge of one or more programming/scripting languages
- Strong SQL language programming and tuning skills
- Familiarity with z/OS OR Unix/Linux environment navigation and basic commands
- Proven research skills and ability to take the initiative to research an issue when one arises
- Ability to solve problems independently but also collaborate and communicate well with others
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to work onsite at Corporate Headquarters in Little Rock, AR
DESIRED SKILLS
- 2+ years of IT experience
- Familiarity with MongoDB
- Familiarity with Korn Shell scripting
- Db2 for z/OS administrator experience
- Db2 for LUW on Unix/Linux administrator experience
