Requirements
MOS: None
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Information Systems, Business or Public Administration, Public Health, social sciences, or a related field and two (2) years of project data collection or statistical analysis experience; or an Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Business or Public Administration, social sciences, or related field and four (4) years of project data collection or statistical analysis experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, prepare and develop analytic data relevant to public health trends, including quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
Typical Duties
Analyze data for operational improvements. Involves: Evaluate methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, efficiency, and accuracy. Plans quality assurance and improvement ensuring departmental accuracy and efficiency with regard to public health records management. Perform and review complex data analyses. Study, track, and analyze public health data from reports and other internal data sources. Identify and evaluate patterns and trends of public health factors.
Develop strategic approaches for data quality and business analytics management. Involves: Respond to user’s requests for data information. Provide research, technical, and analytical support to divisions and programs. Evaluate, monitor, update, and maintain database systems. Develop and distribute statistical and analytical reports. Finalize data analysis; prepare final reports such as operating and statistical charts, graphs, and spreadsheets. Prepare maps, and regular, and ad hoc reports. Prepare analyses of existing conditions and make recommendations for improvement. Use and maintain history and research files.
Perform administrative and professional duties as assigned. Involves: Develop data collection methodologies and review reports and forms to determine necessary modifications. Assist divisions with developing statistical data presentations. Assist with public health response records management and outside agencies or individuals seeking statistical information for use in planning and research.
Conduct training and provide technical support. Involves: Providing technical assistance and education to multiple internal and external partners on a variety of topics including e-health, e-vital records, standards, and interoperability. Document procedures for the entry, cleaning, and quality assurance of data in policies and procedures manuals used by Public Health staff.
