Requirements

Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED or higher, and two (2) years of work experience in technical planning, permitting, and licensing support or administrative support functions which include recommending, developing, implementing, or coordinating office procedures.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.
General Purpose
Under general supervision provide support to the planning and right-of-way functions and activities.
Typical Duties
Gather, evaluate, and graphically present zoning, land use, and right-of-way purposes. Involves: Design and prepare special maps, posters, and related material. Perform updates of maps or files. Prepare aerial and map sketches. Develop and maintain geographic information system (GIS) databases.
Perform land use, case history, or other research. Involves: Conduct field investigations. Photograph site locations. Identify land usage. Measure exact distances and prepare sketches of existing problems or proposals. Assist professional planners in compiling information on special studies.
Depending on area of assignment, as an alternative or in addition to planning-related duties, may accept, process, and review right-of-way submittals. Involves: Research permit and inspection information. Review applications for completeness and accuracy. Compile, coordinate, and distribute documents to the appropriate authority for review and ultimate approval for permit issuance. Assist customers with permit applications and ensure compliance with various codes. Oversee, record, and issue permits and licenses.
Provide a variety of support functions. Involves: Greet customers at the service counter. Maintain application logs. Establish and maintain files for cases.
