Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Media Production, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in audio-visual production, including the use of editing tools software, live TV broadcasting equipment, and master control operations, photography, photo-journalism, news, and animation graphics or public relations; or an Associate’s Degree in Media Production, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in audio-visual production, including the use of editing tools software, live TV broadcasting equipment and master control operations, news and animation graphics or public relations, non-linear editing, content creation for digital platforms animation graphics, and photography.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
General Purpose
Under general direction, responsible for assisting in the development, planning, and execution of high-quality digital media content for a wide variety of multimedia content including digital platforms, video, photography, and animation for public outreach, promotional campaigns, and internal communications.
Typical Duties
Support the planning, design, and execution of digital media projects that enhance the City’s communication efforts across multiple digital platforms. Involves: Assist in leading the production of audio-visual materials for various initiatives, including promotional campaigns, community engagement videos, educational content, and live events. Create and edit video content, ensuring high production quality and brand alignment. Coordinate the setup and management of video shoots, ensuring the proper use of professional video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment. Collaborate with various City departments to create tailored multimedia content that aligns with their messaging and objectives. Stay current on industry trends, tools, and technologies to improve media production quality and introduce innovative content approaches. Troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to video production equipment, software, and post-production workflows. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline the work processes.
Support the City’s digital media library. Involves: Archiving and organizing multimedia assets for easy access and future use. Assist with planning and coordinating broadcasts for all recorded and live audio-visual productions that will air on the City’s government access cable station. Assist Communications staff and volunteers to provide timely customer service and adhere to policies and procedures for providing efficient, safe, and respectful services.
